Karin has been appointed Professor of Composition at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. This makes her the first woman to hold a chair in composition in Sweden.
The duration of the appointment is from 2009 to 2012.

 

Sun Song will be performed at the opening concert of the Venice Biennale on September 25, 2009.

 

The premiere performances of Hava! will take place as the final stage of the competition for the Eric Ericson Award on October 25, 2009, an every three years competition for young choir conductors. Three finalists will conduct The Swedish Radio Choir in Stockholm, giving their personal interpretations of Haya!, a piece specially commissioned for the occasion.

In October, Karin will visit Pacific Lutheran University i Tacoma, Washington where a woodwind quintet will be performing Arktis Arktis! and Valv. Karin will be taking part in rehearsals and speaking at both Pacific Lutheran and the Scandinavian Cultural Center.

 

Requiem aeternam will have its Swedish premiere on December 4 in Örebro. This thirty-minute piece will be performed by the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, with the Örebro Chamber Choir and soloists.
